What counts as meltable stock, and why does it matter?

Amazon classes heat-sensitive products as meltable, and fulfilment centres are not temperature-controlled to protect them. The obvious cases are chocolate-coated anything, but the classification also catches gummy vitamins, some probiotics, suppositories and certain creams and balms.
Meltable stock is only accepted into FBA during cooler months, on windows that vary by marketplace. Outside the window, inventory can be refused or removed, and units that arrive melted become customer complaints and negative reviews with your brand name on them.
The options are to switch affected lines to your own fulfilment through summer, use a temperature-controlled fulfilment partner year-round, or engineer the product and packaging out of the classification entirely. What does not work is hoping.
