What is FBA, actually?

Fulfilled by Amazon, explained properly in two minutes.

One bite: the essentials1 min readAll Deliver bites

FBA stands for Fulfilled by Amazon. You send stock into Amazon’s warehouses, and Amazon stores it, picks it, packs it, ships it and handles customer service and returns for those orders. In exchange you pay a storage fee on every cubic foot and a fulfilment fee on every unit sold.

The commercial reason to care is the Prime badge. FBA listings qualify automatically, and the badge changes how many people see and buy your product: Prime customers filter for it, and Amazon’s algorithm favours offers it can deliver quickly and reliably.

The trade-off is control. Once stock is inside Amazon’s network you work to Amazon’s rules on prep, labelling, storage and returns. That is why the operational detail matters more than most teams expect, especially for regulated products.

Reading about it is the slow way.
