Why pay to advertise on your own brand name?

It feels like a tax, until you see who else is bidding on your name.

Two bites: how it works1 min readAll Grow bites

Search for a well-known brand on Amazon and look at what loads first: ads. Competitors can bid on your brand name, and if you do not, the top of your own branded search belongs to them. A shopper who typed your name with intent to buy is one click from a rival offering a discount.

Defence campaigns occupy that space with your own Sponsored Products and a Sponsored Brands banner. Clicks are cheap, conversion is high, and the placement denies a competitor their easiest conquest.

The judgement is proportion: some of that spend would have converted organically anyway. Watch impression share on brand terms and scale defence with the aggression you actually face rather than paying maximum rent on an uncontested shelf.

Reading about it is the slow way.
